New Lighting in the Hospital Car

Updated: Apr 28

Our Hospital Car, more specifically known as the U.S. Army Hospital Car #89436, was in need of better lighting! GCRM's Curator, Victor, installed new LED lights, allowing there to be a better view of the inside of the car, including the displays inside. Victor routed the new lighting using existing electrical outlets that are in the railcar in order to minimize changes to the original Hospital Car. We plan to hardwire the lights professionally in the future.

The Hospital Car does not only display hospital bunks, but it also displays important artifacts, photos, written information, and documents that were historically in, and about the U.S. Presidential Car No. 1, 'Ferdinand Magellan.' Victor has definitely transformed the Hospital Car visitor experience with just a few lights!
